Step 6 - Completing the installation from your Desktop PC

Once the boot / install floppy system is running its web server it should have given you the URL you need to connect to its web site. If you type this URL into the browser on you Desktop PC, you should get a web page that looks like this :-

Click on the Browse... button and you will be given a "File/Open" window. Select the binary image of the PizzaBox File Server Operating System software and click the Send File button to send the file to the installation system. This may take some time and, depending on your browser, you may not be shown a progress bar. However, you should be able to see disk activity on the PizzaBox File Server as it saves the file to the hard disk.

Once the file has been uploaded installation system will check the file. If the file does not check out, you will be told so and given a link to go back to the selection page (as above). If the file does check out correctly, you should get a web page like this :-

When you press the Continue button the boot / install system will install the PizzaBox File Server Software, that you have just uploaded, onto the hard disk. Once the software is installed you will get a web page like this :-

In order to boot into the PizzaBox File Server Server System you must have removed the boot / install floppy. Make sure you have done so before pressing the Re-Boot button. If you do not eject the floppy before re-booting, don't worry. The floppy system will recognize that there is data on the hard disk and check with you before erasing it. At that point you can eject the floppy disk and press Alt-Ctrl-Del.

Once you have pressed the Re-Boot button you will get a web page like this (Note, I gave my PizzaBox File Server Server the IP Address 10.10.10.67) :-

The first time the PizzaBox File Server Server boots it will perform extras tasks that means the first boot, after an install, will always take longer than usual. Once the PizzaBox File Server Server is booted it will issue four tones from a low tone to a high tone (lowest-low-high-highest). Once you have heard these tones, you should be able to click on the link to get to the PizzaBox File Server's administration pages.

As soon as you click on the link a login window will pop-up. The normal administration account is admin with the password admin. You can also administer the system with the user name root which also has the password admin. Once you have logged in you will get a web page looking something like this :-

When you have this web page you can proceed to Step 7.
