Step 2 - Install a Network card into your Desktop PC and set up TCP/IP on it

If you are not sure how to follow this step, please refer to the documentation for you Desktop PC's Operating System. You will also find some documentation on how to install and configure TCP/IP for Windows in the PizzaBox File Server Manual which is part of the download package.

The default IP Address that the PizzaBox File Server will use is 10.10.10.1 with a netmask of 255.255.255.0 - this is part of a range of "unregistered" IP addresses. This means that it is reserved for use on private networks, or networks protected by a firewall. This makes it a good choice for the PizzaBox File Server's Private network. We would therefore recommend that you keep this address scheme and put your PC on the same subnet. For example, at 10.10.10.50 with a netmask of 255.255.255.0

If you wish to change the PizzaBox File Server's IP address to fit in with an existing IP network then this is not a problem. However, we would always recommend that you use unregistered IP addresses on the PizzaBox File Server's protected LAN.

Once you have TCP/IP installed and working in your Desktop PC you can proceed to Step 3.
